Philippe Lancelot is making tiny quantities of high-quality wine from approximately 4 hectares of vines in Cramant and surrounding Côte des Blancs Grand Crus villages. He was born into a winemaking family, and after his formal training in Avize, began making wine for both the family label – Y. Lancelot-Wanner – and his own. His vines, most of which are Chardonnay, were converted to biodynamics in 2012. His wines see full malolactic fermentation and some oak ageing, but the dosage levels are minimal to none and the result is a steely expression of the Côte des Blancs terroirs.
