One of the great historic houses in Madeira, Henriques & Henriques reputation for quality continues to flourish more than 150 years after its creation in 1850. The company took its current name in 1912 when the founder Joao Joachim Goncalves Henriques’ two sons formed a partnership. With such a pedigreed past, Henriques & Henriques has an incredible selection of old wine stocks in their possession. They also own and work 2 private vineyards, a rarity in Madeira where thousands of growers supply the 7 wine producing companies. Both vineyards are a treasure-trove of vines, including small parcels of the nearly extinct, but transcendent Terrantez grape. Their wines range from entry level, easy-pours to enjoy on the regular, to the deeply thoughtful, concentrated, aged wines with intense and complex palates for savouring.
