Nick Spencer is a prolific and passionate Australian winemaker, mentor, and wine show judge. After having worked at some of Australia’s noteworthy wineries, he settled in for a decade-long stint as chief winemaker at Eden Road Wines. In his namesake label – Nick Spencer Wines – he celebrates the lesser-known regions of New South Wales including Tumbarumba, Gundagai, and Hilltops. His Light Dry Red pays homage to the “Australian Burgundy” blends of the ‘50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s where his Medium Dry Red is inspired by the “Australian Claret” of the same era. He leans towards old puncheons rather than new oak and has recently added an amphora range to his profile. He describes the amphora line as bright and pure, which says something as his cool climate wines tend to be bright and vivacious as is.
