If the name Lubiana rings a bell that’s because Marco grew up in the vines of Tasmanian-famed winery Stefano Lubiana. His father, Steve, was an early pioneer in the Tasmanian wine scene and certainly one of the first to use biodynamic farming in the unpredictable conditions of the apple isle.
In 2018 Marco was graduating from his winemaking studies while doing his placement at the home vineyard. The family had just purchased a plot of vines, the Lucille Vineyard, planted in 1973. This gave Marco the opportunity to start something of his own, with the extraordinary luck of utilizing old-vines. He’s opted to make Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and leave it at that. Not wanting to get overly excited about experimental grapes and gadgets, Marco wants to focus on doing his two wines really really well. He too, is passionately biodynamic and never plans to make wine from vineyards that aren’t farmed under this regime.
