Youthful Nebbiolo (or Chiavennasca as it’s known in this region) from the mountainous Valtellina, the alpine accented offering of one of Italy’s most prolific grapes. Heady florals, rose, hibiscus, rosella, pansy on the nose make way for a punchy acidity like a zippy tangerine - leaning into morello cherry and silk. Super accessible now, if you’re waiting for Barolo to unclench in the cellar, pour it out when you’re making a red sauce pasta. Perfetto. Over the last 20 years, ex school teacher, Maria Luisa Marchetti, changed up her life and has been dedicated to the organic cultivation and minimalist vinification of Nebbiolo (and the local white variety Solaris) in her family’s estate at the heart of Lombardy’s Valtellina wine region.
