Lightfoot is owned and operated by brothers Tom and Rob Lightfoot, and supported by the winemaking of Alastair Butt. The property, a cattle farm, belonged to Tom and Rob’s parents. They planted grapes in 1995 after they discovered the coveted terra rossa over limestone soils throughout. The vineyard, known as Myrtle Point Vineyard, is now planted to Shiraz, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The team produces an experimental range known as the “limited-release”, as well as “single block” wines for classic styles, and the Myrtle Point Vineyard name is given to the more contemporary wines. Their Myrtle Point Vineyard Pinot Noir has become their signature wine, as Pinot has found a prosperous home in Gippsland.
