Hofgut Falkenstein is run by father-son duo Erich and Johannes Weber. Their estate consists of 9ha in the Saar bereiche of Mosel, Germany. They farm organically (mostly – not certified), growing Riesling, Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) and Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir). It is their Rieslings on which they’ve found their success. Erich is one of the remaining producers in the Mosel focusing on dry, searing, Rieslings. He uses large casks and bottles direct including single-cask wines. Vines average 40-50 years old and only wild yeasts are used in the cellar.

Their Krettnacher Altenberg Spätlese trocken is typically their driest wine with a strong salinity and umami undertone. The feinherb (off-dry) wines still lean towards dry as a result of their acidity.
