Giampiero Bea is the son of famed Paolo Bea in Umbria, Italy. Paolo Bea helped shape the reputation of Montefalco in Umbria with his natural approach before the natural wine movement took hold. Giampiero has been working alongside his father and brother for many years. The Bea estate today includes 15ha, only 5 of which are dedicated to vines. The remaining land is dedicated to olive trees and other agricultural products. Giampiero’s Lapideus cuvée is reminiscent of his father’s Arboreus, using old-vine Trebbiano and leaving it on skins for 35 days followed by 210 on lees. The Cotidie cuvée sees Sagrantino and Trebbiano co-fermented, offering a lighter, refreshing variation of Sagrantino.
