A refined, site‑driven red from Gentle Folk Wines, grown on 27‑year‑old vines high in the Turnbull Family Vineyard (460 m elevation, sandy loam over siltstone & sandstone) in Charleston, Adelaide Hills. Pouring a medium ruby, it greets with lifted aromas of sour cherry, red plum and delicate red berries, mingled with herbal lift, crushed stone minerality, citrus peel and a hint of spice. On the palate it’s elegant yet textural — fine chalky tannins, bright acidity, a savoury undercurrent and a long, mouth‑watering finish marked by red fruit, subtle earthy herb and spice notes.
Vinified 100% destemmed with open‑top fermentation, followed by ageing of the free‑run juice in a mix of terracotta amphora and French oak (including a small portion new) for around 10 months. The wine is unfined, unfiltered, demonstrating Gentle Folk’s minimal‑intervention ethos and respect for site expression.
In short: fresh and vibrantly red‑fruited yet grounded by herbs, earth and minerality — a cool‑climate Sangiovese that balances elegance, tension and character.
