Future Perfect is the second label created by Thomas New. His first, created over a decade before, is La Petite Mort – a Granite Belt GI winery. The label saw much success in particular for its skinsy white Rhone blend and easy-drinking Marsanne. Now he’s focusing on the cool climate varieties of Tasmania. New has set up just outside of Hobart in a repurposed meat processing facility, which he shares with 2 other wine producers. He is purchasing his fruit from reputable growers in the Upper Derwent Valley. Working with primarily old barriques and a couple of new puncheons. Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and a Pinot-Shiraz blend called Singularity are his current release. His wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered and aim to capture the freshness that is the Tassie climate.
