All out on their own, in their place they call home.

In South Western Australia, down in the Great Southern region lies Frankland River subregion.  A place of undulating hills, productive farmland and unique wildflowers.

Barrie Smith and Judie Callum worked their land with sheep and wheat. It wasn't till after their European adventure in which they travelled through French vineyards and worked two vintages in Bordeaux, that they took up the sound advice of Harold Olmo who declared the region fit for wine production.

They planted their first vineyard in 1988 on an area called Isolation Ridge.

Since that time Frankland Estate has kept on their path weaving their family into the legacy and going from strength to strength, with a focus on Riesling in a time the grape was unfashionable, they have been guided by some of the smaller cult German houses and today produce some of the strongest Riesling styles in Australia. Add to the mix strong Cabernet Franc and Syrah the estate has been labelled

"Frankland Estate has emerged as one of the great vineyards of Australia" Huon Hooke

Organic certification since 2010, their appreciation of the environment and dedication to maintaining and improving it for future generations is at the forefront.
