Bernard Duseigneur hails from 5 generations of winemakers. His family domain is located on the other side of the Rhône River in Saint Laurent des Arbres, but he made the leap across in 2002. Since 2007, Domaine Duseigneur has been a collaboration with Philippe Faure-Brac, a sommelier with an extensive resume (he won the World’s Best Sommelier competition in 1992) and passion for terroir. Unlike the current trending assertion that all great wines start in the vineyard, Bernard believes that “terroir is nothing without the sweat of men”. That said, they farm biodynamically and give special attention to soil health and biodynamic preparations - they just want their efforts in the cellar to be acknowledged as well. The domaine produces 2 lines: one for serious thinking Châteauneuf-du-Pape (cement fermentation vessels, demi-muid ageing) named for historical people from the region, and a more quaffable and fun line (think whole bunch pressed, no oak ageing) called “Easy Drinking”.
