Historically the Duband family were grape growers and sold the fruits of their labour to the local cooperative in Beaune. In 1991, recently graduated with an oenology degree, David was keen to make a wine of his own. In working with a 1.5 hectare plot in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine David Duband was born.
Today, the grapes are farmed organically. In the winery, David is inspired by the iconic wines of Armand Rousseau and Domaine Dujac and as a result uses a high percentage of whole bunch in his fermentations. He limits the use of new oak (maximum 30% new) and the resulting wines are known for their purity, freshness, and elegance. Today the estate produces wine from 23 appellations across the Côte de Nuits, and continues to garner high praise as a rising star in Burgundy.
