Celebrating over 200 years and seven generations since its foundation in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Billecart-Salmon remains family-owned and operated. Established in 1818 with the marriage of Nicolas François Billecart and Elisabeth Salmon, Billecart-Salmon is today an illustrious Champagne House with award-winning wines. And not just any award. In a 1999 blind tasting of over 150 Champagnes, the 1959 Billecart-Salmon Brut won the prestigious Champagne of the Millennium. The 1961 Brut came second.
Cool, long fermentations, and the use of large oak casks add breadth and weight to the wines, known to be the house style. The Non-Vintage Brut Rosé is considered the flagship of the estate, where there are 3 vintage-dated cuvées: Nicolas François Billecart for the prestige Brut, Elisabeth Salmon for the Brut Rosé, and Louis Salmon for the Blanc de Blancs.
