Cobaw Ridge 'l'Altra' Syrah 2024 — a cheeky, terroir-driven red from Cobaw Ridge in the cool-climate Macedon Ranges, Victoria. 100 % estate-grown grapes on biodynamic, granite-soiled vineyards 600 + m above sea level. Bright and medium-bodied, the wine combines the lift and fragrance of Pinot Noir/ Lagrein-inflected pressings with the spice and structure of Syrah. Expect juicy red-fruit notes — red cherry, cranberry, blood plum — layered with herbal touches (sage, alpine herbs, a whiff of fennel/anise) and a faint gamey, earthy savouriness. It’s fermented with native yeasts, matured in old oak and bottled with minimal intervention — a reflection of Cobaw Ridge’s philosophy of letting the vineyard speak. Overall: lightish, vibrant, slightly sauvage — ideal lightly chilled or next to grilled meats when you want something fun, fresh and terroir-anchored.
