Sommeliers around the globe have been frothing over the cool-climate Californian Ceritas since their debut. Typically reserved for restaurants and direct to consumer purchases, it is rarely found in retail shops. Rather than purchasing vineyards, Ceritas has established long-term leases with their grower-partners, allowing them to seek out specific and exceptional vineyard sites they might not otherwise have been able to afford. Most of these growers have established exclusive rights with Ceritas, in which case the vineyard will be labelled as ‘monopole’. The Ceritas team are incredibly hands on and actively farming the vineyards they lease. Focusing on West Sonoma Coast and Santa Cruz Mountains AVAs, they produce primarily single vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon (from the Peter Martin Ray site only).
