We are of the impression that Meursault is the apex predator of Chardonnays. Pear, fresh sourdough, lemon oil poured on top of white magnolia petals. Rich and round and suited to the Australian Chardonnay palate that appreciates fullness and texture. A higher site in Meursault ensures there’s enough acid for everyone to get along. Bouchard Père et Fils is an historic Burgundian estate, based in Beaune. One of the oldest négociants and producers in the region, they own the largest vineyard holdings in the whole of the Côte d'Or, producing over one hundred wines mostly made from Pinot Noir or Chardonnay, in a range that also includes appellations in the Maconnais, Côte Chalonnaise and Beaujolais. When we say largest, it is truly so, 130 hectares spread across 450 parcels, including 12 hectares of grand cru vines, 74 hectares of premier crus, and four monopole vineyards. Blow your mind much?
