Amo Vino – meaning ‘love you wine’ – is an Italian-inspired change from Riverland, South Australia. Riverland has often been overlooked as a bulk wine growing region, but Ashley Ratcliff of Ricca Terra Wines has been working hard to prove the naysayers wrong. Ashley has changed the perception of Australia’s hottest wine growing region by planting appropriate grape varieties for the climate. His work inspired legendary Tim Stock of Les Fruits wines, and together they’ve partnered to create an accessible and fun line of wine, using grapes from Ricca Terra’s vineyards and surrounds. Floral Fiano, Vermentino, a skinsey blend called Pelle, and a ripe and fruity Barbera are some of the current releases.
