The Gautheron family hold a 14.5 hectare estate located about 4km from the town of Chablis in the petit village of Fleys. Alain took over from his father in the early 90’s as the sixth generation vigneron and is now joined by his son, Cyril, who is helping to bring their wines into the modern era.
The 80 year-old vines of Montmains produce wines of great intensity. Unlike most of the Gautheron cuvees, this wine spends some time in oak barrels, adding richness with such gentle finesse as to not veil the wine’s racy, tropical fruit and mineral structure.
