The Gautheron family hold a 14.5 hectare estate located about 4km from the town of Chablis in the petit village of Fleys. Alain took over from his father in the early 90’s as the sixth generation vigneron and is now joined by his son, Cyril, who is helping to bring their wines into the modern era.
Les Fourneaux covers about 33 hectares on a Kimmeridgian subsoil and poor stony clay soil. The Premier Cru vineyard is largely protected from northern winds with a sunny exposure allowing fruit to thrive. A generous wine that balances power, nuance and mineral acidity.
