Éric Chevalier somewhat reluctantly returned to his family’s vineyard in 2006 as fourth generation vigneron. He’d spent the better part of 10 years working for a large négociant house in Touraine, but when his father retired from the vines, it was either time to pull up or head home. Today he is incredibly proud of the 28ha of vines he manages, most of which consists of Melon B. There is also Chardonnay, Grolleau, Cabernet Franc, and the rare Fié Gris (otherwise known as Sauvignon Rose/ Sauvignon Gris). Since 2020, his estate is certified organic. The Clos de la Butte is a special lieu-dit of 40-year-old Melon B vines, that provide a floral, salty, crispy finished wine.
