La Ca’ Nova is Barbaresco’s current sweetheart. Founded in the 1970s, the estate produces 3 wines from their 14ha of organically farmed vineyards. Each cuvée is highly acclaimed. Their portfolio includes a regional blend and two site specific crus – Montestefano and Montefico. The crus are treated equally with approximately 20-25 days on skins, followed by 20 months in large, neutral botti. The Montestefano cru is a few hundred meters lower than Montefico and produces wines with richness and elegance. The Montefico tends to be more austere and tannic in its youth, but develops beautifully with age.
