Domaine Gramenon, with its organic farming, minimal intervention winemaking, and minuscule production, has achieved cult status. Michèle Aubéry-Laurent was a nurse by trade, but after the untimely death of her winemaker husband, Philippe, she resolved to maintain the family business. She followed the path laid out by her late-husband, but has gradually found her own style within the domain. It is under her direction that the popularity of Domaine Gramenon grew. Her son, Maxime Laurent, has joined the winery and is now releasing a series of wines under his own name. The Domaine Gramenon wines are labelled Côtes-du-Rhône, but do not be mislead – they are concentrated and powerful wines. La Papesse cuvée is 100% grenache from 60 year-old vines in Vinsobres.
