Hubert Soreau is producing his ‘Clos l’Abbé’ from the teeny tiny 0.35ha plot located in his childhood backyard. His family moved from Belgium to Champagne when he was a young boy, and he grew up looking out at the vines. Their plot is located in Épernay, on the border of the Côte des Blancs. Because of its proximity to the Côte des Blancs, the Clos l’Abbé is made from 100% Chardonnay. It’s aged in 300L neutral barrels and sees 6 years on lees prior to release. Given its minuscule size, everything is done by hand, from harvesting to riddling. This is a truly artisanal wine.
