Domaine Chanson is one of the last remaining producers in Burgundy who found their start in the 18th century, having been founded in 1750. With such a rich history, they’ve come to own 45 hectares of Premiers and Grand Crus vineyards as well as a medieval ageing tower inherited during the Revolution. Within their holdings are 25ha of Premiers Crus properties throughout the Beaune region, notarizing Domaine Chanson as a Beaune 1er Cru specialist. They produce 17,000 cases of wine annually, with all vineyard sources farmed organically, including those that are leased. (Note: Wines made from purchased grapes are labelled as “Chanson”. Domaine Chanson is reserved for estate fruit). They use a judicious amount of whole cluster in their fermentations, and a maximum of 30% new oak for reds and 20% for whites. With such a vast portfolio, it’s difficult to define a house style, although one thing is guaranteed – expertise and craftsmanship are a mainstay throughout their wines.
