Brian Wines began in 2012 when Tasmanian winemakers Joe Holyman and Peter Dredge joined forces with renowned wine writer Mike Bennie, three Australians united by a shared obsession with the weird and wonderful in wine. They make wine together in Tasmania and Oregon, sourcing from organic sites.
The Rizza is their most singular creation. Left on skins to find its own path and Jura-inspired in spirit, this 2018 is anything but conventional. The nutty complexity sits alongside vibrant acidity, with lime, toasted cashew, saltiness and sherry-like tones woven through a long, tightly focused finish. Thrilling, original and utterly compelling.
