The Lignier family has been based in Morey-St-Denis for generations, but only started making wine in 1999. They have holdings in Chambolle-Musigny, Gevrey-Chambertin, and Nuits-St-Georges, but it is their Grand Cru holdings and fine Premier Cru plots of Morey-St-Denis that have propelled them into Burgundian stardom.
Winemaking techniques vary from vintage to vintage, but include between 30% and 100% whole bunch, with 30% oak maturation for all crus. Typically highly aromatic and approachable at a young age, the wines of Lignier-Michelot have also not increased their prices exponentially as many others of the region have done recently, still offering tremendous value, for now.
