The Lumpp Family originally hails from the Baden region of Germany and emigrated to France in the late 1800s. Brothers, François and Vincent, began planting the family land holdings with vines in the 1970s. They have since gone their separate ways, with François making a stronger reputation out of the two. He and his wife now own 9ha in Givry, including 5 premiers crus plots. The François Lumpp wines are often cited as being highly undervalued given their location in the Côte Chalonnaise. Their quality is supremely better compared to many of the more expensive Côte d’Or wines on the market.
