Before natural winemaking was a subclass, before it was cool or vogue and before it all, was Tom Shobbrook.
Back to 2010 when four friends with similar philosophies and an even closer friendship collaborated, they merged into the Natural Selection Theory. They were the late Sam Hughes, Anton Van Klopper, James Erskine and Tom Shobbrook and Australian wine drinkers today have a lot to thank them for. That's another story and an important one at that.
The great Tom Shobbrook has been leading the charge in original thought and even more thought provoking dynamic wines since that time. He has a history of making wines from the family planted vineyard in Seppeltsfield and today from grapes sourced from Flaxman Valley, where the fruit is from vines grown from cuttings in their own nursery.
Tom works with extended skin contact, early picked vibrant red wines and minimal intervention practices in the winery, he has made a name for himself that is unparalleled in Australia.
Living and breathing expressions of wines of our time, Shobbrook wines need to be tasted to be believed.
