Runchét is Piedmontese dialect for Ronchetti, the family name of co-founder Beatrice Bongiovanni, and a fitting tribute for a winery built on family and place. Beatrice and her partner Andrea Danusso founded this tiny estate in 2012 in Treiso, one of the celebrated villages of the Barbaresco zone, in the UNESCO-listed hills of the Langhe. As first-generation winemakers, they farm just five hectares organically and make fewer than 900 cases a year. Their Langhe Nebbiolo comes from vines right beside the winery, in the heart of Barbaresco country, and is often described as a Barbaresco in disguise. Expect classic Nebbiolo perfume of rose petal, lavender and red cherry, with dried herbs, a hint of spice, bright acidity and fine, grippy tannins. It’s elegant, savoury and wonderful with pasta, salumi and roasts.
