An Agricole like no other, comes wines of respect and humanity in Southern Sicily.
In the southern reaches of Sicily, just north of Vittoria is a place where the sun rises over the Iblei Mountains, the reddish light glows upon the smiling face of Arianna Occhipinti.
Here you'll find her entwined amongst her vines in her special site of Fossa di Lupo district.
Arianna is the niece of Gusto Occhipinti (who makes the famed wines of Azienda Agricola COS) and the apple hasn't fallen far from the tree.
Arianna and her work at Occhipinti has shifted the focus and reimagined the possibilities of true wines of nature. She specializes in red wines of Frapatto and Nero d’Avola and white wines of Albanello, Zibibbo and Grillo. Her first vintage was in 2004 and today she has grown her holdings to 22 hectares of certified organic vines, with biodynamic practices in place.
Arianna is guided by the vines and seeks to express the gift of nature, showcasing finesse and perfume, (utilizing concrete fermentation) over power. Occhipinti wines can be found on the tables of winemakers and Sommeliers as they gather for tastings, they are wines that provoke discussion, marvel and awe. Wines like no other in a place of unique beauty.
‘We do not inherit the land from our ancestors; we borrow It from our children’. Saint-Exupery quote
A phrase that guides Arianna in her work as winemaker of Occhipinti.
