The 2022 'VGR' Pinot Noir—short for “Very Good Red”—is the flagship cuvée from Oregon’s 00 Wines by Chris and Kathryn Hermann. Sourced from a mosaic of premier Willamette Valley vineyard sites, over half the blend hails from declassified lots of the ultra-rare Richard Hermann Cuvée, a wine that regularly earns near-perfect scores. Every detail is intentional: whole berries, hand-destemmed with pedicels intact, undergo native fermentation in 500L Tuscan amphorae before aging for 18 months in fine French oak. The result is a wine of precision, elegance and lift—translucent ruby in the glass, with vibrant notes of wild raspberry, rose petal, forest floor and spice. The texture is silky and refined, with a mineral thread that speaks to the diversity of soils across the valley. A beautifully crafted Pinot Noir that bridges the world of cult and accessible—drinkable now, but built to evolve. Limited quantities available.
