Hélène Thibon has become the face of Mas de Libian, a biodynamic farm in Southern Rhône. Although the family has been there for generations, Mas de Libian as we know it didn’t really take shape until Hélène and her husband joined the venture in the mid ‘90s. Today she works alongside her husband, her sister and her son.

They farm 25ha of mature vines, with an additional 8ha of forests, gardens, and general biodiversity surrounding. The soil is tilled by hand or ploughed with the help of their horses, Nestor and Bambi. In the winery, everything is kept as clean and pure as possible. Concrete vats are used for fermentation, old large foudres, demi-muids and a variety of oak barrels are used for maturation. Very little if any sulphur is used at all. The wines have stayed somewhat under the radar as they fall into the less prestigious Côtes du Rhône appellation, but are often sought out by wine connoisseurs in the know.
