Palmer & Co. was founded in 1947 by 7 winegrowing families. As an amalgamated family themselves, they take pride in the art of blending. Blending of the varieties, crus, and reserve wines, is what gives this house their balance and precision. Their vineyards mainly lie in the Grand and Premier Crus villages of Montagne de Reims, with sources in the Côte de Sézanne and Côte de Bar making up the remainder. They are committed to sustainability and protecting their vineyards, while engaging in rare practices such as a solera system in the winery. Their non-vintage wines see a minimum of three years on lees, while vintage wines see six to eight. Large format bottles (Jeroboam and bigger) are given the due diligence of ten years or more before release. Although often overlooked for bigger names, this house won’t stay a secret for much longer.
