A long and complicated history, Château de Chassagne-Montrachet dates back to the 13th century. The Bader-Mimeur family acquired the property in 1919 and now owns and manages 98% of the vines surrounding the château. Quality is of the utmost importance in their mantra, in particular regards to barrels. All wines are aged in barrel, approximately 20% of which are new, including regional wines; whites will see 10-14 months and reds a tad longer – 15-20 months. Just outside of the clos du château, they manage a number of parcels. “En Journoblot” is planted to Chardonnay and only separated from the Grand Cru Bâtard-Montrachet by a mere path. “Les Houillères” is also planted to Chardonnay and is one of the only parcels planted in an East-West aspect like that of Montrachet Grand Cru.
