A long and complicated history, Château de Chassagne-Montrachet dates back to the 13th century. The Bader-Mimeur family acquired the property in 1919 and now owns and manages 98% of the vines surrounding the château. Quality is of the utmost importance in their mantra, in particular regards to barrels. All wines are aged in barrel, approximately 20% of which are new, including regional wines; whites will see 10-14 months and reds a tad longer – 15-20 months. Just outside of the clos du château, they manage a number of parcels.
This is a muscular Pinot Noir with deep forest flavours and earth undergrowth. The fragrance slowly evolves and reveals cherries and blackberries in the purest form. While firmly structured, this wine has a delicateness that is both pretty and profound.
