It’s hard to talk about Xavier Ausas without talking about his former career working at Vega Sicilia for 25 years. Since going out on his own in 2015, he is producing a smaller-scale of wine with a quality that reflects his inherent and unquestionable understanding of the Ribera del Duero.
Within a year of starting his own label, ‘Interpretacion’ was created from old-vine Tinto Fino parcels. A gentler approach to the regions standard dowsing of new oak means a more nuanced and elegant expression yet with a force of power and concentration to follow.
