The Larmandier Family have a long history in the Côte des Blancs, dating back to the mid 1700s. Pierre, 8th generation vigneron, took over the family estate in 1988 and together with his wife Sophie they have paved the way for many grower Champagnes. Their passion for organics led to a biodynamic certification in 1999, a rarity in this part of the world where only 2% of vineyards are certified. The 18-hectare estate lies primarily in Vertus, but some additional parcels in Avize, Cramant, and Oger. The average age of their vines is 35 years old, although there are some which push 50 years, naturally limiting yields. Wines spend 11 months on lees in oak casks or wooden vats and are bottled unfined and unfiltered, with minimal dosage (no more than 4g/L).
